I forgive my father for who he was, or more importantly who he wasn't.
Because in most estimations he really wasn't a father.
More importantly it hurt me that he never took the time to bother
To know who his son really was or anything about him.
And I doubted him when he told that one day when you have a son you will understand.
Because sometimes a man
and a woman just don't get a long.
And its a sad song
but the chorus is still remains familar.
Momma's boyfriend's come and go but none will be able to fill the
Void left by a man that seemed like he couldn't share his time
Chad Butler said "I got a baby, but his momma act like he ain't mine"
And in these conflicting stories is where the problem lies.
Bitter women using children in the game of get-back as a pawn
While disgruntled fathers turn their back on their exes as well as their spawns
And in the end the child is the one that grows up off target.
And how far would he get
if both of us wasn't so fuck up.
And I lucked up when I had a beautiful baby boy
Can't see him when I want to because his momma treats him like a toy
Like the kid at recess, "if you don't get along with me I'm taking my ball and I'm going home"
And I can't even get to talk to my son on the phone
And this bitch wonders why I fucking hate her.
And later, I have to pray about the thoughts that run through my head
Because the internet is policed so I have to watch what is said.
I let him know it will all come out in life's wash and we haven't finished all the loads yet
And not to fret,
Even though you do not see me daddy still loves you
And it hurts me not to be able to hug you.
And the fucked up things that adults do, you don't get as a child, but you will as a man
And for your sake hopefully when you have a son you will still not understand.
